Excerpt

Overview over the state of preempt-rt, the mainline merge status and key changes required.

Description

preempt-rt is a kernel community project to provide deterministic real-time support for the Linux kernel. Parts of preempt-rt have been merged into mainline already, but there are still key components of the patch to be merged. Give an overview about the state and the parts which need to be worked on for mainline acceptance along with general information about the key changes of preempt-rt and some insight about the challenges of providing real-time support for a general purpose OS.
