Energy-model driven scheduling

One Line Summary
Enabling energy-aware task scheduling and scheduler-driven power management.
Abstract
Task scheduling decisions have a large impact on system energy consumption particularly for SoCs, yet the Linux scheduler isn’t energy-aware and there is no coordination between power management frameworks. Having a relatively simple energy model to guide scheduling decisions can add the missing energy-awareness in a generic fashion. Brief overview of ongoing effort, missing bits, open issues, and most importantly discussions about how we want to proceed and get energy-awareness merged.
