Abstract

With the advance of Network Function Virtualization (NFV), real time capability in virtual machines is becoming a necessity. This discussion looks at current limitations and different approaches to optimize latency in virtual machines with a focus on KVM hypervisor. The starting point of discussion will be the Freescale analysis on running networking applications on KVM RT virtual machines on Power and ARM architectures.

    Mihai is a senior software engineer at Freescale Semiconductor and an active contributor to the Linux kernel community. He works in the system virtualization area for high-end network SoCs based on ARM and Power architectures. His main topics of interests are KVM, containers, RT, virtual networks and offload acceleration.
