One Line Summary

Current status of ZAC standard (INCITS) and open-source collaboration for software stack support for ZAC-enabled storage devices.

Abstract

The current INCITS standards efforts in the development of Zone Block Commands (T10) and Zone ATA Commands (T13) have been progressing rapidly. We will provide a status of this effort, review of relevant specification details, impacts to SMR architectures, and outlook for ratification. In addition, we will review the current initiatives for Linux software stack support of ZAC-enabled devices.
