One Line Summary

A look at the new things Btrfs can do and how applications can take advantage of them.

Btrfs can do many things that other file systems cannot and therefore open lots of new opportunities for application developers. With built in snapshotting and subvolume support, as well as built in mutli-disk support Btrfs behaves much differently than other file system which can confuse current applications, so this presentation will cover what application developers need to watch out for.

We will also discuss some of the neat features Btrfs brings to the table to make certain operations easier, such as the tree searching ioctls meant to make doing backups simpler and faster.
