Designing for the Disconnect - experiences in exiting the cloud in central america
*One Line Summary
Designing for the disconnect - Enabling the Edge - some lessons in hardware, software and network design, learned in Central America, the hard way.
Abstract
For those that have forgotten what networks were like in the 1970s, or electric power infrastructure was like in the 1920s, this is a recap of the lessons I learned while living in Central America for the past 4 years, while developing a ipv6 enabled wireless mesh network, with related (linux based) hardware & software.
Those that love the cloud may walk away shaken to the core of their convictions.
