Ian Romanick is a Software Engineer in Intel's Open Source Technology Center. He is also one of Intel's representatives to the OpenGL ARB. For the past 7 years he has been working very diligently to make OpenGL on Linux better. He has been doing graphics programming for 15 years, having released his first Amiga demo in 1991. Ian holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Portland State University.
OpenGL 3.0 is scheduled to be released at SIGGRAPH 2008 this August. This is the first major update to the OpenGL specification in two years. This major release contains numerous changes. Some of the changes are expected, and some are not. In addition, some changes that were expected to be made were not made. In this presentation, Ian will outline the changes made in OpenGL 3.0 and outline the expected path forward for future versions of the OpenGL specification.
