One Line Summary

Why forced idle? Update and explore idle injection methods in Linux

Abstract

The idea of over subscription is not limited to airlines. As we pack more processing power into power/thermally constrained environment, power capping is inevitable. Idle injection is one of the methods to manage power.
Existing idle injection mechanisms in the kernel will be
described and discussed, including problems related to them and possible ways to address those problems.
