Unifying Power Policies
This proposal has been accepted as a session.
One Line Summary
Integrating and extending the existing power management frameworks with the scheduler.
Abstract
The Linux kernel currently has separate uncoordinated policies for scheduling, frequency scaling and idle state selection even though they all affect each other. Changing the policy of one may have a negative impact on the others. At the same time, power management on next generation platform seems to require functionality which is not present in the current frameworks or in the scheduler.
This talk will cover a proposal for unification of the power policies the form of a power scheduler and platform specific power driver.
