One Line Summary
An interface to offload bulk data copying
Abstract
Some layers of the file system and storage stack have the ability to efficiently copy data. btrfs and ocfs2 have file-system specific ioctl()s and implementations. Version 4.2 of the NFS protocol adds a file copying operation. SCSI has a few copy offloading methods that are in use in the field. This talk explores how we should offer a common subset of these features with a generic system call interface.
