Exposing routing information to applications
*One Line Summary
Discussion of presentation of audio path data to applications
Abstract
Currently at least HDA and ASoC based audio drivers have some fairly detailed information in the kernel about how the various controls in the system are connected to each other. It would be useful to expose this to the application layer in order to allow applications to work out how to use multiple controls together and/or present diagrams to users showing the possible and active audio paths within the system.
Let’s discuss how best to achieve this.
